Import of Indian onion in the country has increased since April due to excessive demand in the month of Ramadan. Especially, at the beginning of this month, at least twice a day onion was added to Dinajpur's Hili land port. This trend of import is still in progress. And so the country's onion market remains stable in Ramadan this year and the prices of the port is expected to reduce the value of the port importers.

According to the Hilli Land Port Office, on an average, on an average, on the other hand of the port, onion and onion was imported 20-25 trucks per day. Imports increased by more than two times in Ramadan. Now every day 50 to 60 truck onions are entering the country market by port. According to this, the import of 8,391 tonnes of onion is imported in 414 trucks by Hili port in a week's time.

It is found that imported onions from Nissic, Patna, Gujarat, Indore and Rajasthan are being imported from India through Hili land port. And the imported varieties of onion pikeyara (truck cell) were sold at a price of Tk 20 to 22, two weeks ago. And the imported Indian onion retail was being sold at Bangla-Hili Bazar, from Tk 22 to Tk 25 per kg.

But due to adequate import, the price of onion is reduced by six to seven paisa per kg in the hilly land port of Dinajpur in just four days. Types of onions sold at Tk 16 to 22 kg are now sold at Tk 15 to Tk 16 a kg.

Onion importers of Hili land port, Babul Rahman and Mamunur Rashid told BreakingNews, "Onions were imported by 20 to 25 trucks by the port in the past due to lack of demand in the country's market. Imports of port importers have increased the import of onion with ports increasing the demand in the country's current market around Ramadan. For this reason import of onion by 50 to 60 trucks is now being imported by the port. Ramadan more adequate onion passes through the port. Therefore, onion prices may fall on Ramadan. '

Deputy Commissioner of Hilli Customs Customs Rezvi Ahmed told BreakingNews, "Import of onion through the port depends on the internal needs of the country. Talking to traders, I know that since the holy month of Ramadan, the domestic demand of onion increases further in the country. Likewise, the import of onion by the port will also increase. Now importing onion full duty-free. Besides, it is a perishable commodity, the port authorities have also been trying to get rid of the onion faster than the port.
