Kamal said 26 lakh 59 thousand and 807 pieces of Yaba were recovered in the anti-drug drive. At that time, 1,288 people were imprisoned for different periods.
During this period, he said that between January and March this year, 35 thousand and 112 accused were arrested in 27,340 cases. At that time, 3 million 28 lakhs 25 thousand 611 yaba were recovered.
The Minister said, the overall regular operation is being carried out by updating the list of Yaba traders across the country. A draft has been drafted in the Narcotics Control Act-018 to bring under the law of the Godfather and patrons of drugs.
He said the present government has adopted zero tolerance policy against the drug. In implementing this policy, law enforcement agencies including the Department of Narcotics Control, Police, BGB and RAB are working relentlessly.
Asaduzzaman Khan said that necessary measures have been taken to set up Border Liaono offices for the operation of anti-narcotics operations in cooperation with both the countries of India and Myanmar border areas.
He said that so far between the Bangladesh and India about the drug problem, the Director General, Department of Narcotics Control and Director General, Narcotics Control Bureau, held five fruitful bilateral meetings with India. Besides, 3 bilateral meetings have been held between Bangladesh and Myanmar for the prevention of Yaba trafficking. In each meeting, a list of drug dealers in Myanmar and India and the secret factory for drug manufacturing has been requested to take necessary action in this regard. Myanmar has been requested to take necessary measures to stop the production and flow of yaba and to exchange intelligence information about the Yaba manufacturing plant located on the border of Myanmar.
